Islamabad/Bagh (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday highlighted a recent report presented to the United States (US) Congress, saying it confirmed Pakistan’s military achievement during the brief conflict with India in May.
According to the document submitted to the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, Pakistan’s performance in the four-day confrontation demonstrated the strength of Chinese-made defence equipment.
The clash erupted on May 7 after India launched airstrikes in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, following an attack on tourists in occupied Kashmir that New Delhi, without evidence, attributed to Pakistan.
Both sides engaged in retaliatory strikes against each other’s airbases until the US intervened on May 10, leading to a ceasefire.
Addressing the gathering at the foundation-laying ceremony of a Daanish School in Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), PM Shehbaz recalled that US President Donald Trump had repeatedly recognized Pakistan’s success in downing seven Indian aircraft during the skirmish.
“With God’s blessings, our armed forces performed brilliantly, bringing the enemy to its knees,” he said, praising the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir.
On the economic front, the prime minister expressed confidence that the country was progressing steadily and that the government remained focused on sustainable development goals.
PM Shehbaz expressed hope that one day, India-occupied Kashmir would achieve freedom and that Daanish Schools would be extended there.
He described these institutions as providing quality education on par with elite colleges such as Aitchison and Lawrence, offering students access to modern facilities, free uniforms, meals, residential arrangements, and qualified teachers, preferably from local communities.
PM Shehbaz directed the AJK education department to complete the project within the scheduled timeline, announcing that the Bagh school would open on March 23, 2026.
He further revealed plans to soon lay the foundation for another Daanish School in Neelum Valley.
