Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Alima Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, appeared before the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday for her hearing related to the November 26 protest, following 11 non-bailable arrest warrants and the freezing of her bank accounts, CNIC, passport, and threats of property seizure.
Accompanied by her lawyer Faisal Malik and Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah, Alima Khan attended the hearing along with other accused individuals and five witnesses.
During the proceedings, she challenged Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), seeking its declaration as unlawful. Her legal team also requested the court to cancel all outstanding arrest warrants and restore her frozen bank accounts.
The court, hearing her petition, approved the request to remove Section 7 of the ATA and issued a notice to the government counsel, summoning them for arguments on November 26. The court also revoked the government’s seizure of her properties.
While the government counsel opposed the cancellation of warrants and the restoration of bank accounts, the court ordered Alima Khan to appear in future hearings and simultaneously annulled all arrest warrants.
The five witnesses were also summoned for the next hearing.
The case against Alima Khan was registered at Saddar Police Station in connection with the November 26 protest, accusing her of inciting workers to violent demonstrations, engaging in acts of arson and vandalism, and obstructing official government operations.
