National Assembly felicitates China on 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations

Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution extending warmest congratulations to the government and people of China on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China.

The resolution, presented by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship between the two countries would continue to deepen and expand with even greater momentum in the years ahead.

The House reiterated its strong commitment to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China, assuring continued support from the legislature for broadening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. It also reaffirmed its full backing for the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), stressing the need to facilitate the timely and complete execution of its projects for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.

The resolution further highlighted Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and enhance institutional cooperation between the National Assembly of Pakistan and the National People’s Congress of China, terming it a vital component of the broader bilateral relationship.

It expressed optimism that the next 75 years would bring an even more robust, dynamic, and mutually rewarding partnership, driven by shared goals of peace, development, and prosperity.

Meanwhile, A Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of National People’s Congress Cai Dafeng witnessed proceedings of the National Assembly

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq extended a warm welcome to the delegation, with members from both the government and opposition benches showing appreciation by thumping their desks.

He noted that the visit coincided with the commemorations of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and described Cai Dafeng as a respected academic and educationist with notable public service contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that Pakistan and China share an exemplary friendship for the world, built on trust, consistent cooperation, and mutual respect for sovereignty and core national interests.

He added that this relationship has endured various challenges over time without losing its strength, reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to further solidify this bond.

Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai also remarked that Pakistan and China enjoy a close and time-tested friendship, describing it as “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the seas.” He said the people of Pakistan deeply value China’s support and also acknowledge its growing global leadership role.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Syed Naveed Qamar noted that relations between the two countries had steadily strengthened over decades due to sustained efforts from successive governments and leadership on both sides.
