Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has instructed his party’s negotiators to withdraw from discussions with the government if a judicial commission is not formed within a week, party’s Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Monday.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Gohar stressed that the creation of this commission is a vital step for ensuring meaningful dialogue between both sides.

He expressed concern over delays caused by Irfan Siddiqui, the spokesperson for the government's negotiating team, and suggested that minor issues were being blown out of proportion, distracting from more critical discussions on law and order.

He said that the PTI has been steadfast in its demand for a judicial commission to promote transparency and accountability in the process.

Barrister Gohar emphasized that Imran Khan has made it clear that there will be no further meetings unless the commission is set up in the next seven days.

He also accused the government of being reluctant to embrace transparency, referring to it as the "Form 47 government."

The PTI chairman urged the ruling coalition to stay focused on achieving meaningful dialogue for the betterment of the country, calling for patience and understanding on all sides.

It is pertinent to mention that the PTI is currently engaged in negotiations with the federal government, pressing for the release of its founder, Imran Khan, as well as other party members and supporters who remain in custody.

In a formal submission made on January 16, PTI outlined several conditions it hopes the government will address. Among these are investigations into the violent incidents of May 9, 2023, and November 26, 2024.

The party also called for the release of what it refers to as "political prisoners."

As per the demands submitted by the PTI, it urged if the government does not establish separate investigative commissions for these events, it will withdraw from the talks.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tasked a committee, comprising representatives from all coalition parties, to review and respond to the opposition party’s demands.

The formation of this committee was confirmed last week by Prime Minister’s adviser on political matters Rana Sanaullah.
