Lahore (Web Desk): Light to heavy rain in various parts of the country has brought relief to the citizens after a prolonged dry spell.
The weather in Punjab has been a mix of heavy rain and light drizzle, with cooler winds making the atmosphere quite pleasant.
Several cities in the province, including Lahore, Chichawatni, Ferozwala, Gojra, and Faisalabad, experienced significant rainfall, while areas like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, and Azad Kashmir were blanketed in cloudy skies.
The downpours also led to power disruptions in many regions, with numerous feeders tripping.
The rain brought a noticeable chill to Peshawar, which grew colder as the stormy weather persisted.
Balochistan saw intermittent showers as well, particularly in cities like Quetta, which only added to the drop in temperature.
Meanwhile, areas of Sindh, such as Ghotki and Obaro, also had their fair share of cloudy weather.
The forecast predicts further rainfall in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) , and Gilgit-Baltistan, with hailstorms expected in the Potohar region.
The mountainous regions in KP and Gilgit-Baltistan are facing an increased risk of landslides and avalanches due to the ongoing weather conditions.
After a long spell of dry weather, Rawalpindi and Islamabad finally experienced heavy rainfall, which also brought snow to Koh Safaid, adding to the winter chill. Some places in the Potohar region and northeastern Punjab could even see hail, contributing to a more intense weather pattern.
The persistent showers have brought relief, but residents and travelers are advised to stay vigilant as the cold persists and conditions continue to shift.
The Meteorological Office has issued warnings for heavy snowfall in areas like Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan, where road closures and hazardous travel conditions are expected.
