Boosting exports vital for Pakistan's economic development: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that maintaining steady growth in exports is crucial for Pakistan’s economic progress and enduring stability.

He shared these views while leading a review session on domestic exports on Saturday.

PM Shehbaz said that the government remains fully focused on supporting the business community and exporters by offering every possible facility to help raise export levels and strengthen the country’s economy.

He noted that special emphasis must be placed on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, explaining that a stronger export base would not only improve foreign exchange inflows but also open up new employment opportunities across the nation.

Emphasizing practical engagement, PM Shehbaz Sharif instructed the federal ministers for commerce, industry and production, and national food security to personally visit exporters in major industrial and commercial centers.

He said such visits would help officials better understand on-ground challenges and ensure their prompt resolution.

PM Shehbaz also called for closer coordination with provincial governments, particularly to improve cold chain infrastructure and other sectors linked to trade and industry.

During the briefing, the prime minister was updated on the export and import performance recorded so far in the current fiscal year 2025–26, as well as on the initiatives underway to boost exports.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, Adviser to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, along with other senior government officials.
