Lahore (Web Desk): ‘Netflix’- an American multinational entertainment streaming site, is bringing good news for Pakistani dramas viewers.
Pakistani dramas are no longer airing on Zee Zindagi, some relief can be found in the fact that Netflix that officially made its appearance in Pakistan earlier this year is launching Pakistani dramas serials.
The producer Momina Duraid confirmed the news through a Facebook post and stated on the matter: “Netflix California portal picks and launches its first ever Pakistani drama serials Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzaar Hay and Sadqay Tumharay. Big milestone for Pakistan digital industry…”
Pakistani dramas will now have a chance to reach a global audience meaning those who subscribe to the game-changing site will now have access to these dramas.
Likewise, Amazon Prime Video, similar to Netflix and a site which gives its users access to a diverse range of content including shows like Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, The Man in the High Castle and others has expanded its horizon and is now available to viewers in over 200 countries including Pakistan.
Amazon is available to people in Pakistan for $2.99 per month for six months after which the price will go up to $5.99 per month.
From the Pakistan perspective, Netflix has also struck a deal with Shah Rukh Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment. Described as the “first-of-its kind deal”, it will mean that “Netflix will be able to offer its subscribers access to more than 30 existing Red Chillies movie titles as well as any new films the company produces over the next three years,” said one report.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said, “Shah Rukh Khan is the most sought-after actor in the Indian film industry, and has played a huge role in bringing Indian cinema to the world stage,” says. “His moniker ‘King Khan’ speaks to his status as a cultural icon and to the incredible popularity of his films among audiences worldwide.”
Shah Rukh Khan said, “Red Chillies is surging ahead in global entertainment and for the first time, our great stories are going global on Netflix all at once and crossing all geographical barriers, waiting to be discovered over the world. No more waiting for our fans wherever they are.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release, Dear Zindagi is first film that will come on Netflix. Other films like Om Shanti Om, Happy New Year and Dilwale, will be available to fans as well.
