Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has announced a major new economic campaign against Iran, describing it as an “Economic D-Day” aimed at imposing unprecedented economic pressure and deepening Tehran’s international isolation.

Trump warned that any country providing Iran with economic assistance, trade support or financial channels could also face severe economic consequences. He said Washington would intensify pressure on the Iranian economy and called on allied countries to join efforts to isolate Tehran on the global stage.

However, the administration has yet to disclose the full details of the new measures.

According to reports, the US campaign could focus heavily on Iran’s oil exports, financial transactions and international networks that help sustain the country’s economy.

The issue could also have significant implications for China, one of Iran’s major trading partners and a leading buyer of Iranian oil, potentially putting additional pressure on economic ties involving Tehran and Beijing.

Iran, meanwhile, has rejected the latest US threat, describing Washington’s approach as “economic terrorism.” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said increased economic pressure from the United States would not force Tehran to abandon its position.

The latest escalation comes as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to fuel concerns over the Strait of Hormuz and global energy markets.

The potential consequences of the new US economic measures could extend beyond Iran, with fears that heightened pressure may disrupt international trade and further affect the wider global economy.
