DPM Dar, Brazilian FM discuss US-Iran mediation, stress importance of dialogue for global peace

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, with discussions focusing on diplomatic efforts, regional developments and the strengthening of ties between Pakistan and Brazil.

During the call, Vieira appreciated Pakistan’s positive contribution and mediation efforts in the context of the United States-Iran situation.

He stressed that dialogue and diplomatic engagement were vital to maintaining international peace and security.

The Brazilian foreign minister also congratulated Dar on Pakistan’s signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

DPM/FM Dar expressed gratitude for Vieira’s warm remarks and acknowledged Brazil’s significant contribution to promoting South-South cooperation, as well as its continued efforts for peace and stability.

The two foreign ministers agreed that regular high-level engagement and stronger coordination at the United Nations (UN) and other multilateral platforms were important for advancing shared interests.

They reiterated their support for multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

The ministers also discussed a range of regional and international matters and agreed to maintain close communication in order to further develop relations between Pakistan and Brazil.

DPM Dar extended an invitation to Vieira to visit Pakistan, while the Brazilian foreign minister reciprocated by inviting Dar to Brazil.

The two sides agreed to remain in regular contact and expressed their desire to further expand cooperation and strengthen the longstanding bilateral relationship between the two countries.
