Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Emergency Operations Centre of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), has issued a fresh warning about potentially hazardous weather conditions expected to unfold over the next 12 to 24 hours in parts of Sindh.
According to the latest advisory, certain areas in the province could experience intense rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters or even higher, raising the risk of severe disruptions in everyday life due to possible water accumulation and flooding in urban centres.
The NDMA spokesperson urged communities in regions likely to be affected—particularly Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, and surrounding localities—to remain cautious and stay informed through reliable, official sources.
Continuous rainfall combined with inadequate drainage systems is likely to cause ongoing urban flooding in cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Mirpurkhas, potentially straining local infrastructure and impeding transportation.
Meanwhile, flash flooding remains a significant threat in districts such as Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, and Dadu, where weather conditions may deteriorate rapidly.
Simultaneously, rising water levels in the Indus River and its feeder streams have heightened concerns about the potential inundation of low-lying zones, with the risk of large-scale displacement and further disruption looming.
Authorities have highlighted the possibility of major roadways and smaller routes becoming submerged, which could severely impact travel and routine activities.
Residents are being asked to proactively safeguard their belongings and relocate livestock to safer ground if needed.
In anticipation of emergencies, households are advised to assemble essential supplies including food, clean drinking water, medications, and first aid materials.
Individuals are also warned to avoid contact with electrical equipment and steer clear of flooded roads and power lines to prevent accidents.
