NAB files fresh Toshakhana reference against PTI founder, Bushra Bibi

Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday filed a new reference in the Toshakhana case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founderand former premier Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

According to details, the reference was filed by NAB investigation officer Mohsin Haroon and case officer Waqar Hassan in an accountability court in the federal capital.

The couple is accused of purchasing a jewellery set from the Toshakhana and selling it. The set is valued at Rs75 million.

The new NAB reference pertains to a case related to a jewellery set gifted to former first lady Bushra Bibi by the Saudi crown prince when Khan was the prime minister of the country from 2018 to 2022.

As per the reference, the jewellery set, comprising a ring, bracelet, necklace a pair of earrings, was gifted to the former first lady on her visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2021.

This development comes a day after an accountability court on Monday sent the PTI founder and his wife to jail on 14-day judicial remand.

The couple is under scrutiny for alleged misuse of gifts received from foreign dignitaries during their time in office.

On July 13, NAB arrested the PTI founder and his wife in a new case hours after they were acquitted by an Islamabad court in Iddat case.

On July 13, the couple was acquitted in the Iddat case, however, PTI's relief was short-lived as the accountability watchdog arrested the PTI supremo and his wife in a new Toshakhana reference.

The anti corruption watchdog arrested the couple in the Adiala Jail in a case related to alleged misuse of power for acquiring Toshakhana gifts.

In the fresh NAB reference, the couple is accused of purchasing a jewellery set from the Toshakhana and selling it. The set is valued at Rs75 million.
