California (Web Desk): Tech giant Meta has made significant strides in developing augmented reality (AR) smart glasses as a potential replacement for smartphones.

The company has unveiled its first AI-powered smart eyewear device, called the Meta Ray-Ban Display, priced at $799 and expected to hit the market by late September.

According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the glasses feature an advanced display that can be controlled via hand gestures and neurotechnology.

A specialized neural wristband using electromyography (EMG) allows users to watch videos, reply to messages, and interact with the interface without physically touching a screen.

A standout feature of the glasses is that the display remains invisible when not in use and does not obstruct the user's view of the outside world.

Alongside the Ray-Ban Display, Meta also introduced two more smart glasses:

Oakley Meta Vanguard – Designed specifically for sports like snowboarding and mountain biking, with up to 9 hours of battery life; priced at $499.

Updated Ray-Ban Smart Glasses – An upgraded version of Meta’s earlier model, now enhanced with better features and AI capabilities, priced at $379.

Zuckerberg previously stated that in the near future, AI-powered smart glasses will become mainstream, much like smartphones today.

He envisions a future where these glasses, with varying technologies and price points, reach millions or even billions of users worldwide.

Meta originally launched its first Ray-Ban smart glasses in 2021, and the new models now incorporate AI features including holographic displays, camera sensors, and even video calling capabilities.
