Karachi (Web Desk): Gold prices continued their upward climb on Wednesday, with 24-karat gold becoming significantly more expensive in the local market.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the per-tola rate jumped by Rs7,900, taking the new price to Rs431,562 compared to Tuesday’s Rs423,662.
The increase carried through to smaller quantities as well. Ten grams of 24-karat gold rose by Rs6,773 to reach Rs369,994, up from Rs363,221 the day before. Meanwhile, the price of 10 grams of 22-karat gold also climbed, gaining Rs6,209 to settle at Rs339,173 against the previous Rs332,964.
International trends reflected a similar rise. Gold in the global market was trading at $4,092 per ounce, showing a notable gain of $79 from the earlier price of $4,013.
Silver rates moved in the same direction. A tola of silver became costlier by Rs177, landing at Rs5,422 compared to Rs5,245 a day earlier. Likewise, 10 grams of silver went up by Rs152 to reach Rs4,648 from the prior Rs4,496.
On the world market, silver prices also strengthened, closing at $51.50 per ounce after an increase of $1.77 over the previous level of $49.73.
