Govt urges citizens to conserve petrol and diesel

Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has called on the public to adopt measures to save petrol and diesel in order to prevent possible shortages of petroleum products in the coming days.

The appeal was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, focusing on strategies for fuel conservation and austerity in response to the rapidly evolving regional situation.

Officials highlighted the importance of being prepared for all contingencies and adapting plans as circumstances change. Citizens were advised to practice carpooling, use shared transportation wherever possible, limit unnecessary travel, and reduce daily commuting to conserve fuel.

Prime Minister Sharif instructed all relevant departments to stay alert and ready to implement emergency measures until the situation stabilizes. He also noted that the government’s ongoing austerity and savings initiatives have helped provide relief to the public.

The meeting confirmed that the country currently has sufficient reserves of petroleum products to meet national requirements, with additional stockpiles being arranged.

Given the instability in the Middle East and its potential impact on fuel supplies, further conservation steps may be needed in the near future.

The Prime Minister directed that a comprehensive plan be prepared in coordination with provincial authorities to effectively manage any emergency scenarios.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik.
