California (Web Desk): Instagram has introduced a long-requested feature that now allows users to add individual captions to each photo or video within a multi-item post.
Previously, users could only include a single caption for an entire carousel post containing multiple images or videos.
With the new update, each media item can now have its own dedicated caption, enabling users to provide more detailed descriptions and context.
According to the platform, access to this feature will be rolled out gradually through a toggle option that appears when users tap on the caption section.
The rollout is currently underway and may take a week or more before reaching all users globally.
Instagram allows up to 20 photos or videos in a single post, and with this update, each of those items can now include its own caption.
Earlier, in 2024, Instagram head Adam Mosseri had highlighted that multi-photo posts help improve user reach and engagement by increasing the time users spend on the platform.
In March, Instagram also introduced a feature allowing users to rearrange posts after publishing, which complements the newly added caption functionality.
