Washington (Web Desk/Agencies): US President Donald Trump expressed his appreciation for Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, acknowledging his efforts in preventing regional conflict and promoting peace.

While speaking to the media at the White House, President Trump stated, “It was an honor to meet Field Marshal Asim Munir today. I thank him for not heading toward war and for choosing the path of peace instead.”

The US President emphasized the importance of responsible leadership between two nuclear-armed neighbors—Pakistan and India—saying that such decisions help in avoiding catastrophic outcomes.

Trump also revealed that he had invited Field Marshal Munir specifically to appreciate his role in de-escalating tensions. “Pakistan is a smart nation, and I hold its people in high regard,” he added.

The meeting between the two leaders also touched upon broader regional issues including Iran and potential trade cooperation. President Trump noted that Pakistani officials were also engaged in discussions regarding Iran, stating that "Pakistan understands Iran better than we do."

Field Marshal Munir is also expected to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during his visit, with discussions likely to focus on security, regional stability, and bilateral cooperation.
