Islamabad (Web Desk): There has been a major development in the launch of 5G services in Pakistan. The federal government has decided to conduct the 5G spectrum auction during the upcoming month of Ramadan. Following the auction, there are plans to introduce 5G services in major cities across Pakistan within six months.
Federal Minister for Information Technology, Shiza Fatima, stated that the government aims to complete the 5G spectrum auction by the end of February. She emphasized that this would also improve the performance of existing 3G and 4G services, making the telecommunications sector more efficient.
In addition, Shiza Fatima revealed that efforts are underway to ensure that 5G services will be launched in major cities within the next six months. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is currently in consultation with stakeholders to finalize the quality of service (QoS) standards and rollout conditions for the launch of 5G.
The government’s commitment to the timely rollout of 5G technology is expected to provide a significant boost to Pakistan's digital economy, improve internet connectivity, and offer faster data speeds for consumers and businesses alike.
