Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that he will not take any action against former COAS Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa if his party attains power again.
Imran Khan made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore on Sunday.
The former premier said the new COAS General Asim Munir has said that they will remain neutral.
However, he added that the biggest test of his neutrality would be holding elections within three months of the dissolution of KP and Punjab assemblies. The PTI chief added that he became certain that a plan had been hatched to topple the PTI government when Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed was removed as DG ISI.
“I told Gen Bajwa that if the plan to topple the government succeeds, no one will be able to manage the country’s economy,” Khan maintained. The PTI also reiterated that Bajwa wanted Aleem Khan to be the chief minister of Punjab.
Earlier, Imran Khan announced to dissolve the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) assemblies on December 23 (Friday).
“I want to inform the people about why I have decide to dissolve the assemblies in both the provinces where PTI is in power,” said Imran Khan while addressing via video link from his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park to PTI workers and supporters gathered at Liberty Chowk on Saturday. “In this country, until free and fair elections don’t take place, fears will still remain that the country might default,” he added.
