Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has warned that India must not dare to block Pakistan's water, as such an act would lead to consequences that could be felt for years or even decades.
In an interview with British media, DG ISPR stated that the Government of Pakistan has already conveyed a clear message to India regarding the water issue, and there is no need for further clarification from the military. He added, “Only a madman would even think of cutting off water to over 240 million Pakistanis.”
General Chaudhry emphasized that India does not have the courage to take such a step. “We hope such a time never comes, but if it does, the world will witness Pakistan’s response,” he said.
The army spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan stands by its commitments and fully supports the decisions of the civilian government. He said the Pakistan Army continues to uphold the ceasefire agreement and that confidence-building measures have been taken between both sides.
“However, if any violations occur, our response will be immediate and precise, targeting only those specific posts and areas from where the ceasefire is breached,” he added.
Responding to a question, DG ISPR confirmed that the sixth downed Indian aircraft was a Mirage 2000. He stated that the Pakistan Air Force only targeted enemy aircraft and had the capacity to do more but chose to exercise restraint.
He assured that all PAF airbases remain fully operational and that the air force has the resources to activate its facilities immediately in the face of threats.
DG ISPR also noted that India’s attempts to present the Kashmir issue as an internal matter have failed. He emphasized that as long as India avoids meaningful dialogue, the risk of escalation in the region will persist.
