Iranian President Pezeshkian says Tehran values Pakistan’s support during critical times

Islamabad (Web Desk): Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their key role in facilitating the mediation process between Iran and the United States.

He conveyed his appreciation during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which lasted more than 30 minutes.

The call marked the first contact between the two leaders since the signing of the historic Islamabad Peace Deal.

President Pezeshkian said Iran would always remember Pakistan’s positive and constructive efforts and its support during difficult times.

Extending his best wishes to the people of Pakistan, the Iranian president said Tehran is keen to further expand and strengthen bilateral relations with Islamabad across all areas of mutual interest.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated President Pezeshkian, the Iranian leadership, and the people of Iran on the signing of the landmark peace agreement.

He said the deal would help promote regional peace, support Iran’s reconstruction efforts, and further deepen Pakistan-Iran relations in all fields.

The Prime Minister also conveyed his respectful regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.

Lauding Iran’s decision to sign the agreement, Shehbaz Sharif wished the Iranian side success in the next phase of negotiations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support as a brotherly neighbour.

Both leaders agreed to exchange visits at the earliest opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance coordination on regional matters.

They also agreed to remain in close and regular contact in the coming days.
