Tehran (Web Desk): Iran has announced that it has ‘suspended’ its commitments under the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU), claiming that the United States (US) failed to honour the terms of the agreement.
This was stated by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, country's semi-official news agency Fars reported on Saturday.
“The US has violated and suspended all its commitments within the framework of the Islamabad MoU,” Gharibabadi said.
He further stated, "We have also suspended our commitments, we are not implementing them, and we are busy defending the country."

Meanwhile, Iran’s Health Ministry released updated figures on the casualties caused by US strikes that have taken place since June 27, reporting that 50 people had lost their lives while more than 500 others were injured.
Hossein Kermanpour, head of the Health Ministry’s Public Relations and Information Centre, shared the details on X, saying, "Among those killed were five women and two children and teenagers under 18."
Kermanpour also said the injured included 32 women along with 18 children and teenagers.

Separately, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam said that the United States (US) misused MoU to gain control in Strait of Hormuz.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the Iranian envoy said that after months of mediation facilitated by Pakistan, the two sides reached a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), agreeing to resume negotiations after a six-month interval.
However, he said, that the US later interpreted the agreement in a manner that differed from what had been mutually accepted, allowing it to secure control over sections of the Strait of Hormuz—something it was allegedly unable to accomplish through military operations.
Ambassador Ameri said that it was clear that Iran would reject a unilateral and unjustified interpretation of the MoU, arguing that such a move represented a direct violation of the agreement.
He added that the US had since initiated military action in breach of both the MoU and internationally recognised principles, resulting in the destruction of key infrastructure.
The Iranian envoy called on the international community to firmly denounce it as an aggressive and irresponsible act.
After several months of mediation by Pakistan, an MOU of 14 points were reached and decided for the talks to be continued in six months.
