Brasília (Web Desk):Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has strongly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 50% import tariff on Brazilian products, calling it unacceptable and coercive.

Speaking out against the move, President Lula declared that Brazil is not a country that takes orders from foreign powers, and emphasized that his nation will firmly defend its sovereignty.

He labeled the tariffs as "unjust economic extortion" and warned that Brazil is fully prepared to respond appropriately to such measures.

Trump's announced tariffs, set to take effect in August, have already increased tensions between the two nations, escalating concerns over a possible trade dispute.

Just days earlier, Lula had referred to Trump as an "imperialist and aggressive leader" who, according to him, “the world can no longer tolerate.
