Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has declared today (on Monday) as a day of mourning in Pakistan on the sad demise of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.

The decision is taken to express fraternal solidarity on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, with the royal family, the government, and people of Kuwait.

The national flag shall fly at half-mast throughout the country on the day.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar undertakes a one-day visit to Kuwait today to condole sad demise of the Emir of Kuwait.

According to Foreign Office (FO), the prime minister will convey to Royal Family, government and people of Kuwait the sympathies and condolences of the Government and the people of Pakistan.

Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah died on Saturday, aged 86, according to the royal court.
The emir was admitted to hospital late last month due to what the state news agency described at the time as an emergency health problem but said that he was in a stable condition.

Kuwait’s deputy ruler and his half-brother, Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber, now 83, is believed to be in line to take over as ruler, although no official announcement has yet been made.

Sheikh Nawaf was sworn in in September 2020 after the death of his half-brother, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, in the United States at the age of 91.
