DG ISPR lauds British Airways for flight operations revival in Pakistan

Rawalpindi (Staff Report/Agencies): Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Tuesday thanked British Airways for its decision of resuming flight operations in Pakistan.

The DG ISPR, while thanking the British Airways, tweeted that the dividends of decade’s long struggle of Pakistani nation and its security forces for restoration of peace and stability in the country are on the way.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also welcomed the British Airways' decision to resume flights to Pakistan.

In a tweet, he said the decision is an acknowledgement of Pakistan's continued efforts for peace and elimination of terrorism.

Qureshi lauded the efforts of Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfikar Bukhari and British High Commissioner Thomas Drew in this regards.

Earlier on Tuesday, British Airways announced to resume its flight operation in Pakistan nearly after a decade.

The announcement was made by an official of the airline at a press conference alongside Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Zulfi Bukhari.

“British Airways returns to Pakistan. Direct flights from London Heathrow to Islamabad’s new airport start in June. A further boost to links between the UK and Pakistan - especially on trade and investment,” said British High Commissioner Thomas Drew in a video on Twitter.

British Airways halted its operations to Pakistan 10 years ago.
