Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan defeated Cambodia 1-0 to register their first-ever win in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers history at Islamabad's Jinnah Stadium on Tuesday.
With the victory, Pakistan football team are now eligible to contest for the second round of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers.
Harun Hamid scored the only goal of the match in 67th minute to win against Cambodia.
The first leg of the tie between the two sides ended goalless in Cambodia.
Star forward Otis Khan, who made his debut against Mauritius in a friendly last June, didn't feature in the first leg in Cambodia and second leg as well since he didn't get clearance from FIFA and was barred from participating by game’s governing body FIFA, which ruled him ineligible, despite him possessing a Pakistani passport.
This is the first time after 2011 that Pakistan will host a World Cup Qualifier. Last time they had played against Bangladesh at Punjab Stadium in Lahore.
