Islamabad (Web Desk): A key meeting presided over by Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday accorded preliminary approval for overhauling the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), signaling the government’s intent to revamp the country’s agricultural research system.
The prime minister directed the relevant authorities to draw up a detailed restructuring roadmap for PARC, emphasizing that the plan must include a well-defined timeline to ensure effective and timely execution.
He further directed that the institution be upgraded into a premier research body along the lines of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to enhance its performance and global standing.
Highlighting the importance of innovation in agriculture, the prime minister noted that robust research is vital for strengthening the sector and ensuring sustainable food security across the country.
During the meeting, participants were given a comprehensive briefing on proposals aimed at transforming PARC into a more agile and forward-looking institution capable of addressing the evolving requirements of modern agricultural research.
