California (Web Desk): Google has steadily expanded the integration of its Gemini AI technology across its applications in recent months, introducing a range of tools designed to enhance user experience.
Initially, the company focused primarily on AI-powered writing assistance features. In 2025, Google rolled out AI-generated email summaries in Gmail for subscribers of its paid Google Workspace plans.
The company later broadened access to several useful AI tools, making them available free of charge to Gmail users in the United States in January 2026.
Google has now announced the global rollout of AI-powered email summaries for Gmail users worldwide.
According to a report by Android Authority, the Gemini-based email summary feature is being gradually introduced to users with free Gmail accounts. At present, the tool works only with selected email threads.
Google has also confirmed on its support page that AI Overview conversation summaries will be available to Gmail users globally, including those using free accounts.
The company said the feature currently supports multiple languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
The AI Overview tool uses Gemini to analyze the content of an email thread and generate concise summaries for users. In addition, Gmail users can interact with the “Ask Gemini” feature to ask questions related to specific email conversations.
Users who do not wish to use these AI capabilities can disable them through Gmail’s settings menu.
To turn the features off, users need to navigate to Settings, then General, followed by Google Workspace Smart Features, and finally Manage Workspace Smart Features Settings, where Gemini-powered options can be disabled.
