Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar called for a fair and lasting solution to the Palestine and Kashmir conflicts, emphasizing that the right to self-determination for both peoples is essential for ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region.

During his virtual address at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, Azerbaijan, he highlighted that true security and peace in Asia cannot be achieved without addressing the underlying causes of conflict, which, in his view, require comprehensive political solutions rooted in dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law.

FM Dar stressed that Asia's progress is continuously undermined by persistent challenges such as political disputes, foreign occupations, and the denial of self-determination.

“Issues like poverty, illiteracy, and the looming threat of climate change continue to hinder the region's collective development,” he noted.

To overcome these obstacles, he urged CICA member countries to strengthen their political relations and combine their economic resources to ensure that the benefits of growth reach every corner of the continent.

The deputy premier pointed out that sustainable development and lasting progress are impossible without cooperation and collaboration among nations.

He also underscored the importance of investing in infrastructure, particularly transport and energy corridors, to enhance connectivity and facilitate regional integration.

Such investments, he argued, are vital for fostering long-term economic development and stability.

“Pakistan remains dedicated to promoting connectivity and regional integration through CICA and other regional frameworks,” Dar asserted, adding that this commitment is part of Pakistan’s broader vision of fostering cooperation, peace, and prosperity across Asia.

DPM Dar’s remarks reinforced the belief that dialogue and cooperation are the keys to overcoming the region’s most pressing challenges.

Pakistan is a founding member of CICA, a multinational forum aimed at enhancing cooperation and confidence-building among its 28 member states to promote peace, security, stability, and prosperity in Asia.
