Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan, along with seven other Muslim countries, has strongly opposed Israel’s refusal to endorse the Gaza Comprehensive Plan and its stated rejection of Palestinian statehood.
The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint declaration expressing concern over Israel’s rejection of Palestinian statehood as well as the roadmap designed to implement the Comprehensive Plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict.
The ministers warned that Israel would be fully responsible for any repercussions arising from its continued refusal to cooperate with the plan, including efforts to block, delay or otherwise prevent its implementation. They said any further worsening of conditions in Gaza would also fall within the consequences of such actions.
According to the joint statement, Israel’s position represents a clear unwillingness to move ahead with the Comprehensive Plan.
The eight countries cautioned that this stance could undermine the extensive diplomatic efforts of US President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and create the basis for a durable peace.
The foreign ministers stressed that the United States must remain actively and consistently engaged to ensure Israel fulfils its commitments under the plan and its roadmap, while also taking steps to prevent further obstruction.
They reiterated that the Comprehensive Plan must be implemented fully and without delay to respond to Gaza’s severe humanitarian crisis and create a pathway toward a fair and lasting settlement based on the Palestinian people’s internationally recognised right to self-determination and statehood.
The countries also made clear that they would reject any unilateral effort aimed at ruling out or denying the possibility of a Palestinian state.
Such measures, they warned, would undermine peace efforts and threaten stability and security across the wider region.
The statement further stressed the continued significance of the Board of Peace and called on all concerned parties to cooperate with its efforts to implement the roadmap and move forward with the second stage of President Trump’s Comprehensive Plan.
The foreign ministers also urged the Board of Peace to take swift and practical action, backed by active US involvement, to protect the plan’s framework and ensure that no side is able to obstruct or derail its implementation.
