Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) issued a weather forecast on Thursday, warning that various regions across the country—including Rawalpindi and Islamabad—are likely to experience heavy rainfall, strong windstorms, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms on the evenings of Friday and Saturday.
A high-alert weather advisory has been issued for the Pothohar region, which includes Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as parts of Upper Punjab such as Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Jhelum.
Central Punjab areas including Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Lahore, Narowal, Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Sheikhupura are also expected to be affected between the evening of April 18 and April 19, 2025.
The advisory notes that these intense weather conditions may lead to disruptions in infrastructure, transport systems, and farming activities.
According to the NEOC, the anticipated strong winds and heavy rain could bring down trees, potentially leading to short-term power failures. Windstorms, dust storms, and hail may damage fragile structures, rooftops, vehicles, and overhead power lines.
Additionally, hail poses a particular threat to crops and outdoor equipment, especially those involving glass surfaces. Visibility may also be significantly reduced due to rain and dust, which could heighten the likelihood of traffic accidents.

Tourists and those living in affected areas are urged to monitor weather developments exclusively through authorized sources.
