Trump says Modi assured him India will stop buying Russian oil

Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has revealed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured him that India would no longer purchase oil from Russia.

Speaking at a press conference at the White House, President Trump said he had been displeased with India’s oil trade with Moscow but added that the issue has now been resolved amicably.

Addressing ongoing tensions with China, the US president said that the trade dispute between Washington and Beijing continues but asserted that the United States has taken a commanding lead over China in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Turning to the Middle East, Trump said that Hamas must honour the ceasefire agreement, stressing that the US does not want the group to remain armed. He added that disarming Hamas would not require American military involvement.

On the Ukraine conflict, Trump stated that he is actively working to bring the war to an end and that Russian President Vladimir Putin will have to reach a deal regarding Ukraine.
President Trump also claimed credit for having successfully helped prevent eight potential wars during his tenure.

Discussing South Asia, Trump shared that the Pakistani Prime Minister once told him, “I have saved millions of lives,” referring to his efforts to de-escalate tensions with India.

Trump remarked that Pakistan and India had come perilously close to a nuclear confrontation and noted that seven aircraft were downed during the crisis.
