Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has vowed to uphold the safety and security of citizens at all costs, declaring that no individual or group will be allowed to disturb peace or incite disorder in the country under any condition.
This commitment was made during a meeting held in Islamabad today to review the latest law and order situation.
Those present included Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.
Participants of the meeting agreed that a detailed evaluation would soon be conducted to determine the losses caused to both public and private property during the recent violent unrest.
Following the session, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar told reporters that the recent disturbances were not spontaneous but rather part of a premeditated plan carried out under the cover of protest to destabilize the country.
He reminded that Pakistan had consistently voiced strong support for the Palestinian cause on international platforms.
Tarar added that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had personally conveyed his appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan for their solidarity with Gaza.
The minister noted that unlike peaceful pro-Palestine demonstrations held across the globe, protests in Pakistan had turned violent, with armed agitators attacking police officers and inflicting damage on public and private assets.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in his comments, dismissed speculation that the government had avoided talks with the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). He clarified that the authorities had made sincere attempts to resolve the issue through dialogue, but the TLP leadership had refused to abandon its violent approach.
Naqvi emphasized that police operations were restricted to dispersing violent demonstrators and reopening blocked routes, adding that only those TLP members found directly involved in acts of vandalism would face legal action.
He further announced that the entire nation would mark Youm-e-Tashakkur (Day of Gratitude) tomorrow.
Speaking at the same occasion, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf underscored that the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the foremost duty of the state and called upon religious scholars to actively take part in observing Youm-e-Tashakkur across the country.
