Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday congratulated Sohail Afridi on his election as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), highlighting the need for strong coordination between the federal and provincial governments to pursue shared national objectives.
The phone call marked the first direct communication between the prime minister and the newly elected chief minister since Afridi assumed the post, a development that comes amid political strain between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal administration and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government in the province.
During their conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz assured the KP chief minister that the Centre was fully prepared to cooperate with the provincial government in efforts aimed at promoting Pakistan’s overall progress and stability.
CM Afridi, who took oath a day earlier as the successor to Ali Amin Gandapur, thanked the prime minister for his kind words and appreciated the gesture of goodwill following his assumption of office.
