Islamabad (Web Desk/Agencies): Heads of delegation from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states convened on Wednesday and reaffirmed their commitment to resolving disputes peacefully through dialogue.

The two-day Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting, chaired by Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Srinagar, emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, including politics, security, trade, finance, and culture, to create a sustainable and prosperous world.

In a joint declaration, the leaders expressed a commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth by optimizing regional potential in areas such as green development, the digital economy, health care, agriculture, and renewable energy.

They reiterated the necessity of implementing the SCO Economic Development Strategy until 2030 and called for coordinated efforts to facilitate the action plans outlined in the Program of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation.

The heads of delegation acknowledged the significant changes in the global economy driven by technological advancements and expressed concern over reduced investment and disrupted supply chains due to protectionist policies.

They opposed unilateral sanctions and advocated for a multilateral trading system to support sustainable global development. Several member states, including Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, reiterated their support for China’s One Belt, One Road initiative, emphasizing collaborative efforts to align this project with the Eurasian Economic Union.

The meeting also addressed issues related to information security, healthcare digitalization, environmental protection, and sports diplomacy, highlighting their role in enhancing ties among member states.

They concluded by expressing gratitude to Pakistan for hosting the successful meeting and announced that the next CHG meeting would take place in Russia in 2025.
