Peshawar (Web Desk): Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, a senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) and former senator, passed away in Peshawar on Saturday.

The news was shared on social media platform X by ANP leader Samar Haroon Bilour.
Samar Bilour conveyed the tragic loss, writing, “Brother of Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Shaheed Bashir Ahmed Bilour, Aziz Ahmed Bilour, and father of Ghazanfar Bilour, former senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour has passed away.”

Ilyas Bilour had been battling a kidney illness for some time and had been receiving medical treatment in Peshawar’s hospital for the past several months.

A well-respected figure in ANP, Ilyas Bilour served as a senator in 2012 and remained an active member of the party throughout his political career.

His son, Ghazanfar Bilour, later joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which led Ilyas Bilour to step back from active politics.

The funeral prayers for Ilyas Bilour will take place on Sunday at 2:00 PM at Wazir Bagh in Peshawar.

President Zardari offered his heartfelt condolences to the family members of late ANP’s senator.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with patience.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise Ilyas Ahmed Bilour.

The prime minister prayed for the departed soul and patience and strength for the bereaved family.

“Ilyas Ahmed Bilour’s remarkable services for the welfare of the people are commendable,” PM Shehbaz said.

He said as a Senator, Ilyas Ahmed Bilour represented the public with excellence.

“The late leader’s political contributions will be remembered,” PM Shehbaz said, adding that the space created in the political landscape due to the death of Ilyas Ahmed Bilour will be difficult to fill.
