Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the relevant authorities to coordinate closely with provincial governments and take strict action against anyone found involved in creating an artificial shortage of petroleum products, stressing that there should be no disruption in fuel supplies across the country.
The directive came during a high-level meeting held in Islamabad to review the government's austerity measures in light of the evolving economic situation and regional developments.
Chairing the meeting, the prime minister said that uncertainty in the region continues to persist and instructed all concerned departments to remain fully prepared to deal with any potential challenges.
He emphasized the importance of proactive planning and directed officials to formulate a comprehensive contingency plan to ensure a swift and effective response if circumstances change.
PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan's economy is currently on a stable footing but warned that the government must remain vigilant in view of regional developments that could affect economic conditions.

He stressed that advance planning and timely decision-making are essential to safeguard economic stability and ensure uninterrupted public services.
The prime minister also praised the people of Pakistan for their strong support during the government's previous national austerity campaign.
He particularly appreciated citizens for cooperating in conserving petroleum products and energy resources, saying their responsible behavior had contributed significantly to the success of the initiative.
He noted that the government's timely and effective strategy had ensured smooth management of fuel supplies throughout the country, preventing shortages and maintaining market stability.
He added that the measures taken by the government had protected the interests of ordinary citizens, especially motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers, transporters, and other segments of society that are most affected by fluctuations in fuel prices.
PM Shehbaz further said that the government's fuel subsidy had played a vital role in reducing the burden of rising petroleum prices on the public, helping to shield consumers from the full impact of international price increases.
The prime minister warned that prolonged regional tensions could pose economic challenges for Pakistan in the future.
He urged the nation to continue embracing the spirit of austerity and to ensure the careful and efficient use of national resources, just as people had done during the previous conservation campaign.
During the meeting, officials informed the prime minister that the country currently has sufficient stocks of petroleum products to meet domestic demand.
They also assured him that necessary arrangements have already been put in place to guarantee uninterrupted fuel supplies in the coming months and to maintain stability in the country's energy sector.
