Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has left for Shanghai, China, on a two-day official visit.
During the visit, Pakistan will formally become a Founding Member of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO), with the deputy prime Minister set to sign the membership agreement on the country's behalf.
Ishaq Dar will also attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, where he will hold meetings with international leaders and stakeholders.
On the sidelines of the conference, DPM Dar will hold a one-on-one meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and engage in separate discussions with several other foreign counterparts on a range of issues of mutual concern.
During meetings, the deputy premier will outline Pakistan's approach to expanding international cooperation in artificial intelligence, placing particular focus on the aspirations and development requirements of countries across the Global South.
DPM Dar will advocate for reducing the widening gap in AI capabilities by encouraging fair and inclusive access to advanced technologies, strengthening skills and institutional capacity, and ensuring that the progress made in artificial intelligence is used to support sustainable growth and generate shared economic and social benefits worldwide.
