FM Qureshi, Afghan President Ghani discuss bilateral relations

Kabul (Agencies): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussed bilateral relations and issues pertaining to regional peace and security during one-on-one meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul on Saturday.

Delegation level talks were held between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Kabul in which bilateral relations as well as matters pertaining to peace and security in the region were discussed.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi led the Pakistani delegation. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani was also present in the talks.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister also held a meeting with his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani. Delegations of both sides were present in the meeting.

On this occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan will have to work together to meet the common challenges. He said there is great potential to further bolster relations and cooperation between the two countries.

In his remarks, the Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan is vital for regional peace. He said his country desires cordial relations with all the neighboring countries including Pakistan.

Earlier, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal in a tweet stated that the visit underlines the importance that Pakistan attaches to work closely with Afghanistan for regional peace and stability.

He said that the successful outcome of the visit will lead future efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation under bilateral frameworks of cooperation including Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).
