Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan and Jordan have reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen their economic and strategic partnership while expanding cooperation at both regional and international levels.
The affirmation came during a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Saturday.
The discussions highlighted opportunities to further enhance bilateral relations, focusing on sectors such as trade, investment, economy, health, education, science and technology, and defense.
The leaders also engaged in an in-depth dialogue on regional peace and security, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts.
The two sides emphasized coordinated action among the eight Arab-Islamic countries working with the United States (US) on the Gaza ceasefire and the Gaza Peace Plan signed in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
They also reaffirmed a shared position on post-war Gaza, including a firm stance against any displacement of Palestinians from the region.
King Abdullah II praised Pakistan for its consistent support of Jordan’s role in promoting regional stability and humanitarian initiatives during the Gaza conflict and in its aftermath.
PM Shehbaz warmly welcomed the King’s visit, describing it as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations, and briefed him on recent developments in Pakistan’s neighborhood, particularly regarding Afghanistan and India.
The King acknowledged Pakistan’s vital role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The visit also included a ceremonial exchange of memoranda of understanding in media, culture, and education, followed by a banquet hosted by the Prime Minister in honor of King Abdullah II and his delegation.
