Mumbai (Web Desk): India set 398-run target for New Zealand in the first World Cup semi-final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Earlier, India won the toss, decided to bat first against New Zealand.

India scored 397 runs in stipulated 50 overs losing four wickets, thanks to the brilliant innings of Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer.

Kohli scored 117 runs from 113 balls, Gill scored 80 runs from 66 balls and Shreyas scored 105 runs from 70 balls.

Both unbeaten tournament hosts India and New Zealand were unchanged.

India won all nine of their pool matches but were pushed hard by New Zealand during a four-wicket success in Dharamsala last month.

New Zealand, the finalists at the last two World Cups, have yet to lift the trophy.

Meanwhile, Australia and South Africa will meet in the second semi-final at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, with the final to be held on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
