Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday expressed appreciation for IBI Group’s initiative to set up its Pakistan Digital Economy Headquarters in the country, noting his satisfaction over the steadily growing business-to-business (B2B) cooperation between Pakistan and China.
He shared these remarks during a meeting with an 11-member Chinese business delegation led by Qian Xiaojun, Founder, President and controlling shareholder of IBI Beijing United Technology, at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.
While extending a warm welcome to the delegation, the prime minister highlighted that Pakistan and China are bound by deep-rooted historic relations and continue to stand as All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners.
PM Shehbaz also praised the notable progress achieved by China under the leadership of Xi Jinping, adding that he was looking forward to his forthcoming visit to China later this month.
The prime minister added that IBI’s involvement in promoting digital economy cooperation, encouraging investment facilitation, and strengthening industrial collaboration was a highly encouraging development.
Speaking on the occasion, Qian Xiaojun conveyed confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential and said that IBI aims to contribute toward establishing a strong digital backbone to support the country’s digital transformation.
He added that the planned establishment of IBI’s Digital Economy Headquarters in Pakistan would function as a central command hub for this transformation and would open up significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), giving them access to the large Chinese market.
The delegation’s visit followed the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference held in Beijing in September 2025 during the prime minister’s earlier visit.
The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, SAPM for Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, along with other senior officials.
