Daanish University will be on par with top universities: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Daanish University of Emerging Sciences will be on par with the world’s top-ranking universities in terms of standards.

Speaking during a visit to the site of the University in Islamabad, he emphasized the critical role of quality education in shaping the future of the country and driving its progress.

The university will be built on a sprawling 100-acre plot of land and funded with a sum of £190 million, which was transferred to the national exchequer by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

According to the prime minister, the first phase of the university's operations is scheduled to commence by August 14, 2026.

PM Shehbaz underlined that the university’s focus will be on applied sciences, which he believes will play a pivotal role in transforming the nation’s future.

He assured the public that the government would remain hands-off in the university’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that admissions would be granted solely based on merit, with deserving students receiving free education.

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, elaborated on the university’s vision to produce future leaders in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.

He spoke about the institution’s potential to foster the growth of technology-driven start-ups, preparing Pakistan for the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions.

Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui highlighted the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education throughout the country and expanding the Daanish Schools network as part of its broader educational reforms.
