Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court, requesting to set aside the Lahore High Court's decision to grant Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah bail in drug possession case.

The petition states that the LHC's decision to grant Sanaullah bail is contrary to the law. The ANF has asked the top court to repeal Sanaullah's bail and for the PML-N lawmaker to be returned to the force's custody.

On 24 Dec 2019, the LHC granted bail to Rana Sanaullah in a drug possession case.
LHC judge Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed on Monday reserved its verdict on a petition filed by the former Punjab law minister seeking a bail in the case.

The ANF had arrested Rana Sanaullah from Motorway near Sukheki, claiming to have recovered heroin from his vehicle.

The FIR was lodged against the former provincial minister under section 9 (C) of Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment or a jail-term that may extend to 14 years along with a fine up to Rs1 million.
