Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to protecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Lebanon’s Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, who called on him in Islamabad on Monday.
PM Shehbaz condemned Israel’s military aggression against Lebanon in the strongest possible terms and expressed profound grief over the deaths and destruction caused by the attacks.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Lebanon’s leadership and people during this challenging period.
Receiving the visiting Lebanese minister, the prime minister highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Lebanon and conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the Lebanese leadership.
The two sides held discussions on bilateral relations and welcomed the steady expansion of cooperation, particularly in matters related to interior and security affairs.
Ahmad Al-Hajjar thanked PM Shehbaz for the warm hospitality extended to him and expressed Lebanon’s commitment to taking bilateral cooperation with Pakistan to a higher level.
The prime minister also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding concerning the transfer of sentenced persons. The agreement was signed by the interior ministers of Pakistan and Lebanon.
Under the MoU, a formal legal mechanism has been established to enable convicted citizens to complete the remaining part of their sentences in their respective countries of origin.
