Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday strongly denounced the latest Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic facilities, assuring that Pakistan would continue working to ease tensions in the region and support peace efforts during a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS).
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said PM Shehbaz and Crown Prince MBS spoke by telephone on Sunday afternoon.
"During their warm and most cordial conversation, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the recent attacks by Houthis on Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic infrastructure," the PMO said.
Telephone Call between the Prime Minister and Saudi Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince & Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this afternoon. During their warm and most cordial conversation, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the recent attacks by Houthis on Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic infrastructure. While expressing complete solidarity with the Saudi leadership as well as the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister stated that the recent Houthi actions threatened regional peace and security and could further disrupt the global economy and energy supplies. The Prime Minister added that he, alongwith Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, would continue their efforts for defusing tensions and bringing peace in the region. In this regard, the Prime Minister lauded the Saudi Crown Prince for his wise and sagacious leadership throughout the crisis. The Prime Minister also availed himself of this occasion to convey his warm wishes and respectful regards for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appreciated Pakistan for its steadfast support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as its efforts for peace and stability in the region. The two leaders agreed to continue to remain in close contact, and looked forward to meeting each other at an early date.

The conversation took place as tensions continued to intensify across the Middle East. A day earlier, Saudi Arabia had suspended operations on its East-West Pipeline after the key oil route was targeted in an aerial attack amid the expanding regional conflict.
The latest escalation followed Houthi attacks on the southern Saudi cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, which left 73 people injured. Saudi-led coalition forces subsequently launched a series of airstrikes against Yemen’s western Al-Hudaydah province.
According to the PMO, PM Shehbaz expressed "complete solidarity" with the Saudi leadership and the "brotherly people of Saudi Arabia", warning that the Houthi attacks posed a threat to regional peace and security and could have wider repercussions for the global economy and energy supplies.
"The prime minister added that he, along with the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, will continue their efforts to defuse tensions and bring peace to the region," the statement added.
The PMO said that PM Shehbaz also praised the Saudi crown prince for his "wise and sagacious leadership" throughout the ongoing crisis.
The premier further "availed himself of this occasion to convey his warm wishes and respectful regards for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud".
The PMO stated that Crown Prince MBS expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent support for Saudi Arabia and its continued efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
Both leaders agreed to stay in regular communication and expressed their desire to meet in person at the earliest possible opportunity.
Later, PM Shehbaz shared a statement on X, saying he was pleased to have spoken with Crown Prince MBS that afternoon.
“I reiterated Pakistan’s strongest condemnation of the recent Houthi attacks targeting civilian and economic infrastructure in the Kingdom, and conveyed our complete solidarity with the Saudi leadership and our Saudi brothers and sisters. Such reckless actions threaten regional peace and stability, with serious consequences for the global economy and energy security,” he said.
