Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran was keen to secure an agreement with Washington “quickly and badly,” but stressed that he would personally decide whether the United States would enter into talks with Tehran.
“The failing nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly and badly,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
“I will determine whether or not the USA will choose to engage - The concept of which we are open to,” he added.
The United States and Israel carried out strikes against Iran in February, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and US military positions located across the region.
With Pakistan and Qatar acting as mediators, Washington and Tehran reached the Islamabad understanding in June. However, the arrangement later became stuck as the two sides failed to resolve differences linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
The United States launched another round of military strikes against Iran in August, prompting Tehran to retaliate by targeting American military facilities in several Arab nations that are aligned with Washington.
