Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have jointly called for an immediate end to Israel’s aggressive posturing and unlawful actions targeting Iran, Palestine, and other countries in the region.
The two leaders voiced their concerns during a telephonic conversation on Saturday, expressing grave alarm over the escalating situation and its implications for international peace and stability.
Both leaders strongly condemned Israel's military strikes, describing them as violations of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
They emphasized that these actions were in clear contravention of the United Nations Charter and international law, and posed a serious threat to regional and global peace.
In their discussion, they also denounced Israel's ongoing and brazen military aggression against the Palestinian people, which they noted continued unchecked and with complete impunity.
PM Shehbaz and President Erdogan stressed the urgent need for the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take collective action in addressing the situation.
They reiterated their support for upholding international norms and called for a unified global response to stop further destabilization.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to international peace, security, and stability, PM Shehbaz Sharif assured that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in promoting peace.
He noted that this would be pursued both as a member of the UN Security Council and through active engagement in forums such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The premier also confirmed that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar would represent Pakistan at the upcoming OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting scheduled to take place in Istanbul.
During the call, PM Shehbaz congratulated President Erdogan on being honored by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, acknowledging the recognition of his leadership.
The two leaders also updated each other on their respective countries’ diplomatic efforts in response to the evolving regional situation.
Concluding their conversation, the two leaders agreed to remain in close contact and to coordinate their peace initiatives going forward.
