111 monsoon-related deaths reported in Pakistan since late June

Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan has reported over 110 deaths, including many children, from monsoon rains since late June, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Electrocution and flash floods are the main causes of fatalities, with Punjab being the hardest-hit province.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts heavy to very heavy rains from July 15 to 17 across various regions, including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh. Authorities have been warned to stay alert for flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding.

The monsoon season is vital for agriculture but also poses risks of flooding and damage. Climate change is increasing the frequency of extreme weather events in Pakistan, which faced devastating floods last year affecting millions.
