PM Shehbaz says Pakistan rapidly integrating into global digital finance

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday highlighted the vital role of digital payments and financial innovation in driving Pakistan’s fast-growing digital economy.

He was talking to a delegation from World Liberty Financial USA, led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zachary Witkoff in Islamabad.

Welcoming the delegation, the prime minister outlined his vision for a Digital Pakistan, emphasizing greater connectivity, accessibility, transparency, and openness for citizens.

He expressed satisfaction at the rising global interest in Pakistan’s digital financial markets and noted that the country is quickly becoming an integral part of the international digital finance ecosystem.

Zachary Witkoff conveyed a strong interest in collaborating with Pakistan to develop a secure and transparent digital payments framework, including innovations in cross-border settlements and foreign exchange operations.

He praised Pakistan’s policy environment, which he said is positioning the country as a competitive player in global digital finance, and expressed his eagerness to deepen cooperation on next-generation digital payment solutions.

Later, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of Pakistan and SC Financial Technologies LLC, an affiliate of World Liberty Financial.

The agreement aims to establish structured discussions and technical exchanges on emerging digital payment systems for cross-border transactions.

The MoU was signed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Zachary Witkoff, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir witnessed the ceremony.
