Karachi (Web Desk): The much-anticipated first ferry service between Pakistan and Iran has been postponed due to the current tense situation after violent protests in Iran.
According to sources at Karachi Port, bookings for the Karachi to Chabahar ferry route have been temporarily halted, and it is unlikely that the ferry will operate until at least January 22. The resumption of services is dependent on the clarity of the situation in Iran.
Originally, the ferry service between Karachi and Chabahar was scheduled to begin on January 20. However, due to the ongoing unrest in Iran, authorities have decided to delay the launch of the service. Sources close to the matter stated that the ferry service will be resumed once the situation stabilizes and normalcy is restored in the region.
In light of the ongoing issues in Chabahar, discussions are reportedly underway to start a ferry service from Karachi to Gwadar instead. This alternative route is being seriously considered, with plans expected to be finalized soon.
